Choose between a boy or girl?

I am reminded of the lyrics from an old romantic movie:

He: Our firstborn should be a girl, she should be like her mother
She:Our first darling should be a boy, like her father.

We don't know how it turned out, but let's believe they had twins, a boy and girl, the boy for her and the girl for him.

And no thoughts of Oedipus now, please!
